EU Officials Decry US Action as ‘Coercion’
European leaders including Emmanuel Macron charged the US administration of “bullying and threats”, after the visa restrictions targeted individuals who have been central to efforts to enact legislation governing US-based technology firms.
“For far too long, European activists have spearheaded organised efforts to coerce US companies to punish American viewpoints they oppose,” stated the US secretary of state in a social media post. “This government will no longer tolerate such actions of censorship beyond its borders.”
