Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his first trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult season, winning just one win at the big events and undergoing a setback at the American major.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is his initial championship after the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt after March of 2023.

The win also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to win a championship is really nice," said world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his last six finals, comprising in Halle in the past months.

The player's counter-punching approach and regular emotional displays on court had led observers to wonder if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.

But the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform positively, backed up by an enhanced service.

The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the last five points to go ahead.

The competitors traded break points in the following set before Moutet, striving for his first ATP Tour title, took control to create a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game break points in a close final set before the Russian broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner earned victory with a rally at the net, with his opponent failing to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
