Ten sentenced of digital abuse targeting Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has found guilty ten people for engaging in the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced accusations of disseminating untruths regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to posting hurtful comments about the husband and wife's age disparity of 24 years.
The court handed down conditional custodial sentences of up to eight months to the perpetrators. The detailed judgment has yet to be released.
A longstanding conspiracy theory claiming that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has existed since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France is concurrent with the Macrons initiating a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared analogous false narratives about the Brigitte Macron's identity.
Their lawsuit states that Owens ignored any factual proof disproving her claim in favour of give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has frequently reiterated these claims on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her belief that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron first met her future husband when she taught at his high school.
The couple entered into matrimony in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was 54.
